Peep is definitely an improvement on her dam as her dam had an udder that I could put my whole fist freely in the pocket in the front. Nor did her dam have any medial, RUA or RUH. In fact, the appraiser told us not to even bother working with that udder. However, I believe Peep's sire Almar Acres RK Anduril helped a lot. Peep's udder is super tiny, but snug, and snug is something we can work with. Her udder texture is buttery soft and pliable. At ten days fresh its hard to judge. Will look at it again next test day.
We decided to dry peep up earlier and not go for her generational milk star her yearling year. Instead give her time to mature some more. She does milk out super easy and has had high fat every test just being on orchard grass hay. Last minute Peep was appraised after we already started drying her up then decided what the heck and kept her in milk as best we could just so we could have her looked at. It was nice to have a surprise compliments all around this doe, especially how elegant and dairy she was. She does not have the deepness of body that you do expect in a yearling, which was why her score was lower. The appraiser felt with another year she is going to be a really nice doe. He really had only positives to say about her. She even received V's across the board unlike her dam who had mostly F's and A's. I guess there is hope still :) |
Peep's true 12 hour fill only 14 days fresh.
